I was just matching how it read in the show note that Ian made. Blame him!

#3 Christmas movies

You mentioned a movie where the bad guys were atheists. There are *lots* of Christmas movies where the bad guys don't believe - in Santa Claus.

The important issue is to believe, even if it doesn't make sense.

Some kids ask "Am I too old to believe in Santa Claus?". The truth doesn't matter - it is the desire to have that comfort.

While there are Christians who value what Jesus Christ taught (WWJD), lots are like these children who want the comfort of being a child taken care of with rules to live by. In this case, the rules aren't what Jesus taught, they are what they were comfortable as children. Unfortunately part of that value was to accept the answers of "authority" without question. They gave answers (unlike science, which doesn't claim to know everything).

It would be OK, if that authority was Jesus Christ. His lessons were that it's better to be good than to be Right, and that Authority was often wrong.

#4 WWJD? WWJBD? WWNPHD?
