Episode 1 edits

I'm typing on my netbook as Bryan edits our second podcast.  I was actually there for the whole conversation, though there are a couple kid interuptions that are hitting the cutting room floor.  I participated more, though I felt my bit jumped around too much and lacked organization.

Episode 0

I was just listening to the edited version of our first episode.  I didn't talk much.  I actually left for part of it because my kids were having difficulties with bed time.  Overall it is okay.  Bryan is the only one with podcasting experience, so I thinik it will take us a few episodes to hit our stride and really be comfortable with our format and such.  Now, of course I have to do my part with topics of conversation for future episodes.  Right now I'm going to make a quiche.  And listen to the  "Wicked" soundtrack.

just because it's been a while

I think I should take a moment and give my praise to modern medicine.  I was recently sick, and the virus hung around for much longer than I think it should have.  I went two days without being able to eat anything and drinking very little.  Realizing that continuing in that same vein would be bad in the long term, I went to my doctor.  I was given an i.v.

We here at Amateur Skeptic have been discussing for a while now our desire to put out a podcast about current scientific research from the viewpoint of the average joe.  How timely that I came across this discussion between Chris Mooney on Slate.com and Michael Specter, author of Denialism.  They are discussing the dichotomy between our (American) mostly positive view of science and our anti-science practices (i.e., the anti-vaccine movement).  Chris states:
