Interview With Eric Bickernicks about his book: High Strangeness
Outline of Book:
Imagine Orson Welles' War Of The Worlds happening on present day Cape Cod, then toss in a little Close Encounters Of The Third Kind. I examine the conspiracy crowd, UFO folklore and the type of people it attracts. I based it around a bunch of true events and famous people within the UFO community. I wanted to play with people’s expectations on how aliens are SUPPOSED to look and act. (i.e. THE FOLKLORE)
3 protagonists: Ken the skeptic, Melissa the reporter and Astro the Golden Retriever. Chapter 1 starts with Ken the skeptic making a fake crop circle, to show how easy it’s done.
The main UFO in the story is based on the V-shaped UFO that was seen on March 13, 1997, over the Phoenix area. There’s a cult leader (Klick) is waiting for the return of the Fornacisians spaceship so he can have sex with the extraterrestrials. (Inspired by Marshall Applewhite of Heaven’s Gate, The Raelians, and Billy Meier) There’s a famous UFOlogist who claims frozen alien bodies are at Otis, the local Air Force base and they’re NOT located at Area 51. (inspired by Bob Lazar)
